A Quickstart Guide to Building Reports in Camphouse
Published on

As Customer Success Managers at Camphouse, we talk with customers every day and we’re constantly impressed by the creative ways they turn raw media data into real insight. We didn’t want to keep all that inspiration to ourselves, so we pulled some of the best starting points into one place.
Reports are one of the most flexible parts of Camphouse, and that flexibility is exactly what can make them feel intimidating at first. When you can visualize anything, it’s hard to know where to begin. This guide fixes that: two common report types, the charts that work best for each, and permission to make it all your own.
What is a report in Camphouse?
A report in Camphouse combines charts, tables, and diagrams to visualize your media data across three dataset targets: planning and results. Because you can mix and match datasets, measures, and visualizations, a single report can show anything from high-level budget pacing to a detailed spend breakdown by country or media type.

The chart types you’ll reach for most
You don’t need every chart type to build something useful.
These are the ones that cover the majority of media reporting needs:
Number & Gauge — for single headline figures like total spend, or a quick actual-vs-planned pacing read.
Pie & Column — for showing how spend splits across media types or vehicles (your media mix).
Table & Multidimensional table — for detailed breakdowns with grain, like spend by media type per quarter or month.
Map — for spend and allocation across countries or regions.
Bubble — for comparing two measures at once, like estimated vs. actual clicks per vehicle.
Blueprint 1: The Campaign report
A campaign report gives you a fast read on how your current campaigns are pacing, planned versus actual, at a glance. Here’s a solid starting set:
What to build | Datasets | Measure & dimension | Visualization |
Total actual vs. planned spend | Planning + Results | Actual spend and planned spend | Gauge |
Planned spend per media type (quarterly) | Planning | Planned spend, by Media Type; grain: Quarter | Table |
Media spend per media type | Planning | Planned spend, by Media Type | Pie or Column |
Media mix | Planning | Planned spend, by Media Vehicle | Pie chart |
Planned vs. actual clicks per media vehicle | Planning + Results | Est. clicks and actual clicks, by Media Vehicle | Bubble chart |
Blueprint 2: The Global report
A global report zooms out to show budget allocation and spend across all your brands and regions, ideal when you need the big picture in one view. A strong starting set:
What to build | Datasets | Measure & dimension | Visualization |
Total planned spend | Planning | Planned spend | Number |
Planned spend per media channel | Planning | Planned spend, by Media Type | Pie or Column |
Planned spend per country | Planning | Planned spend, by Country tag | Map |
Planned vs. actual spend by media type per month | Planning + Results | Planned and actual spend, by Media Type; grain: Month | Multidimensional table |
Total planned spend per media plan | Planning | Planned spend, by Plan | Table |
Make it yours
These are starting points, not rules. Every team’s reporting needs are different, and the best report is the one that answers your questions, so treat these blueprints as a foundation and customize freely. Swap measures, change the grain, try a different visualization until the story lands the way you need it to.
The bottom line
The hardest part of report-building is the blank page. With two proven blueprints and a handful of go-to chart types, you’ve got everything you need to move from staring at options to shipping a report your team will actually use with the clarity and control that turns media data into decisions.
